AMRITSAR: When 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, raised the status of the Granth Sahib to that of the 11th Guru, he could not have imagined that almost four centuries later people would travel to Amritsar to pay homage to the Granth.
As the Granth Sahib includes hymns written by 15 ''bhagats'' from all over the country, jathas from native places of the ''bhagats'' are reaching the holy city on Monday.

Three Gurmat Chetna march would arrive at the Golden Temple on Monday.
According to an SGPC release, a march dedicated to Bhagat Namdev and Bhagat Tarlochan had begun from Narsi Namdev on August 20, while another dedicated to Bhagat Dhanna ji and Bhagat Peepa ji had begun from Lalbara, Rajasthan on March 25.
The third chetna march, dedicated to Bhagat Kabreer and Bhagat Ravi Das, had begun from Varanasi on August 25. Two more similar marches originating from Takht Damdama Sahib and Srinagar would arrive on August 31. With the arrival of jathas from Varanasi, Nanded (Maharashtra), and Rajasthan, Sikh religion would acquire a new cosmopolitan dimensions.
